Dr. Knuth is Board Certified in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and is a fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Psychologists (AAFP). He is licensed in North and South Carolina and is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Education.

Dr. Knuth completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned his Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Knuth completed a dual appointment pre-doctoral internship program through UNC Hospital's Forensic Psychiatry Services in Chapel Hill and Durham Public Schools in Durham, North Carolina. 

His private practice, which is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, is focused on evaluations, expert witness testimony, and trial consultation related to matters of child custody, juvenile court proceedings (dependency and delinquency), and educational access.
